I'm performing my first L1 Bridge pencil trick on my Duron850 to unlok the multiplier.
Now, I saw an warning that I CAN blow the CPU if somehow the pencil traces are joined together, which I think is very possible given the size of the thing.
That made me think that it's not worth the risk....
So.. is it really possible? Has anyone blown CPU because of unprofessionally donw pencil job?

I don't think so. Where you can get in trouble is when you try to adjust the multiplier and voltage using the L4 and L7 bridges if u make a mistake, but for the L1 unlocking, I doubt you could damage the CPU.

never heard of it... just look at it, and if its smeared, erase and start again. i've done it a few times.

the only way it'll burn up if... you accidentally smear it... and the mobo reads a multiplier that is way too high for your CPU and cooling system to handle ...yes it'll burn up faster than you can say "sienkiewicz"
but the chances are low...

for example a 1 G CPU would have 7,5x133 mult n' FSB combo
if you by accident set the mult to 12,5 (altough i dont think it's possible) your CPU would be running at
1,66 G and if your HSF couldn't handle the heat it'll fry within seconds
