Is it possible to bind your F keys from within windows?

Clearly you wouldn't bind F1-F5, but I am without a hardware pod for mute and volume control and would love to control that with my F keys...

I know you could bind them on the Mac without special software.... keyboard control panel is no help.

Anyone?
