Is it possible to be allergic to sugar?

I just came back from my father's house where we celebrated my gf's birthday. I ate a piece of cake and two scoops of ice cream. Upon arriving home I started to itch in the back of my head where I normally itch in the mornings (previous post regarding itching). Then as I came into the house my arm itched like crazy and I scratched it and it looked like hives. Then my leg started to itch so I took some medicine for it.

Any idea if it's even possible to be allergic to sugar?

I am allergic to the following (no lie):

eggs
tomato
all dairy products (chocolate, cheese, milk)
all berries
all seafood

Judging from my list, I have come to a conclusion that there was a fish hidden in the cake.

If is more likely you had a reaction to one of the dyes used in the cake or the frosting. People can be allergic to sugar, but it's usually only a specific type of sugar protien.

What color was the frosting on the cake?

You know, there are a lot of other ingredients in cake and ice cream than just sugar.

You wouldn't live if you were, or whatever symptoms the allergy gave would be constant.
