Is it possible to be addicted to food and not be fat?

So I can't stop thinking about food. I think about lunch when I'm eating breakfast, I think about dinner when I'm eating lunch...I can't get food out of my head!!

I am 6' 1" and weigh 160 pounds (granted I used to weigh 217  ) so my wieght is fine, but I'm concerned I will be fat soon if I slow my exercise routine at all or it may just happen anyway!

Do I have a problem? Is anyone else as obsessed as me? Any tips to help me stop thinking about food?

Are you working out a lot? Try eating smaller meals, but at shorter intervals (ie eat 5-6 small meals a day) if you really get hungry throughout the day.

How's your diet? Your body may be craving something that it's missing.

I'm the same way. I love food. I hate spending money, except on food. I have no qualms about throwing 50 or 60 bucks for dinner but I haven't bought anything else except gas for my car in months. I, however, am 5'10" and weigh 130. Part of that is because I run about 50 miles a week, but even if I didn't I wouldn't weigh much more. If you used to weigh 217 and are now 160 (that is awesome, BTW, congrats!) then it is extremely likely that if you slack off in exercising you will probably gain the weight back quick.

All I can say is drinking a lot of water helps cravings and I've found that my appetite is suppressed after weightlifting...

thelanx: Yes I run 3 times per week (short runs though) plus work out with weights on 2 alternate days.

sixone: My diet is ok. I usually eat an apple and/or some almods for breakfast, soup and sanny for lunch, and whatever is around for dinner.

Lola: glad to know I am not alone  and yes I know you are not fat, I have seen the pic of you floating around here ;)

edit: spelling

Hilarious, I am exactly the same way. Food before all else!

The bolded part is what I am afraid of because I am so busy at work and with some schooling I fear not being able to keep up my routine and...bang..fatty bobalatty!

You could just be high bodyfat and hold little to no real muscle. Doesn't mean you're healthy.

Well how the heck do I figure that out? I don't think that is the case. I am not super muscular by any stretch, but I don't think my body fat is that high.

Nothing wrong with it, as long as you make sure it doesn't make you unhealthy. Large, delicious portions do not necessarily have to be fatty or sweet.

But yeah, I don't get the "I eat to live" attitude some people have. Taste & Smell are 2 of your 5 senses...not indulging yourself by eating great food is kind of like giving up sex voluntarily, or refusing to listen to good music.

Maybe you look fine and healthy from the outside. But inside you're slowly rotting away into a delicious pile of gravy.

I try to limit my crap eating to special occasions (ie: Super Bowl sunday...look out!) and I try not to overeat when I go out for dinner, but I really, really, like to go out for dinner.

I have a couple friends who say that "I eat to live" crap...I just don't understand

i don't know about that. I just asked my gyneacologist if that happens to all women and she said no it does not. It just depends a lot on genetics and each womans metabolism.
(i am hoping i will be one of the women that don't gain weight)
