If you cut caffeine completely, you will have headaches for 2-3 days. Just make sure you drink lots of water, and a couple of Advil usually help. After that, you will feel just fine. The thing is, if you start consuming caffeine again, the same side effects will occur each day you stop.

For a better morning boost than coffee, eat an apple.

Apparently it can be snorted & smoked along with the normal methods of consumption.

A little too extreme for me, but I've thought about getting some to avoid soft drinks.

Problem is you have to buy like 1/2 lb + for it to be cheaper than NoDoze.

Hahaha...

That is pretty expensive, tho..

Hmmm...

Once you get into the large quantities it's cheaper than NoDoze or anything like that... 1 lb is a god awful lot of caffeine though.

I was thinking of using it to caffeinate water, I really should avoid the Mt Dew/Diet Coke that I've been drinking to stay awake at my second job.

Caffiene can't be that addictive. I went from drinking 4 or 5 Cokes a day to not having any caffiene the next day and haven't had any in about a year. The withdrawl sucks, though.

453,592.37 milligrams, to be exact! :Q :D

Yeah. That's pretty good idea. It would definately be better than drinking Mt. Dew and the such.

I wonder if it has any taste...

Really? I always thought it had some taste, because.. well, those caffeine containing chocolate truffles are quite nasty, and you would think they could make them at least decent tasting, unless something is preventing that.. I mean, it is chocolate for pete's sake. It shouldn't be nasty bitter(as opposed to dark chocolate bitter.. yum).

As others have pointed out, it is addictive, but it's easy to cut out. 2-3 days of withdrawals and you're OK. A few weeks more and your tolerance is gone, so 1 RB will be great, rather than needing 5.

caffeine is more addictive than crack...

Not that I've ever tried crack, I'll still agree with you.

I've gone through so many addictions to caffeiene and then broke them after a few years. Then, after a few months without it, I'm back drinking coffee, colas, etc. - and just as addicted as ever. Damn ... caffeine ... bad stuff. Well, I feel that way now, but my opinion will change when I need that cup of coffee in the morning to get rolling again. :)

Not true. Actually, the makers of Barqs root beer have indicated that they add caffeine to enhance the taste of the root beer and not put it in as a "boost."

Plus, when I drink caffeine-free Coca-Cola, I just doesn't taste right.

too lazy to read the rest of the thread... but I second what Azraele said....

today I decided to not drink any red bull.

First off, I cannot concentrate on sh!t. I have a horrible headache, and generally feel unmotivated.

I broke down and bought a barq's root beer.

Bleh.

The headace is clearly (indirectly) caused by caffeine.
Caffeine reduces blood flow in the brain ever so slightly. When the caffeine is out the blood flow goes back to normal ---> headace. (There is a reason that pills for headace contains caffeine ;) )

Adicted to it, mmmm wouldn't really call it that. Probably more like a withdrawal (sp?) problem. You are saturated with caffeine.
