The only way i can burn under winxp is if i use nero. Even that doesn't always work. When i try to just use the "built in cd burning support" i get an error message telling me "the device is inaccessable." Easy cd creator platinum v5 doesnt work either, even though its supposed to. Is there a list of incompatible hardware somewhere, or is this not an incompatibilty problem?? My burner is a creative 4x2x24.

Thanks,

check here for hardware compatibility!
did you use the XP patch for your Easy cd creator platinum v5 software from roxio.com?
As for inaccessible device, you have to enable XP burning software under properties of your drive in my computer.

I updated my copy of easycd platinum, and now it works!!! However, could you go into more detail about enabling windows buring support. Do you do this in devive manager, or what?

Thank

Why would you even want to use the built in the support for cd burning in WinXP? Isn't it just basic support, anyway? I didn't even bother with it when I installed XP Pro, I just installed Nero 5.5 and CDRWin for all my burning needs on my Plex 12/10/32 scsi cdrw drive.

go into windows explorer & right click your cdrw drive & select properties. you'll see the recording tab & check box for "enable cdrecording on this drive".
if I were you I'd just use your Easy cd creator software for burning & leave the box unchecked! :)
