Is it possible/realistic to widen this doorway?

This is the door to my basement. The opening is exactly 29". I am interested in getting some arcade games that are 30" wide, so the way it is right, I simply can't get them to put in my basement. Even if I could get it like 2" wider. You can see from the pic, even like the little lip that the door catches on, if that was gone I think it would be 30" wide.

So I am wondering, based on the way the house is designed and setup, if it's even possible to widen this a bit. As you can see from the one pic from the basement, once through the doorway, there is a good amount of space on the sides, probably around 35" or so total. But, because of the where the door is located, and me not really being handy, I don't even know if it is possible to do this. And if it is, would it be making the frame wider? I just don't know WTF is all involved in this stuff.

Here are some pics. First 2 are from the top, and the last one is from the stairwell.

Sorry for the lighting - wife was watching TV upstairs and didn't want to turn the lights on.

Here are some pics I had taken the other day I forgot about, with some better lighting but doesn't show the full doorway.

It could be possible. Depends on the framing behind all the drywall and load bearing above. if it is standard framing for a door with no load above that would be easy. If it is load bearing then you will likely need to lengthen the support above to support the wider door. The height of the load bearing doesnt change but depending on how its built, the load beams may or may not need to lengthen.

You will likely have the trim pushing up against the wall, but that really isn't a big deal.

I'm going to say, "no". When 2X4's are framed on the end of walls, they're sometimes doubled up...and occasionally they are turned perpendicular to each other. I'm looking at the proximity of those two doorways and feeling like it's probably 3, 2x4s between them. Both are supporting the headers over the doors....and that's why you can't widen the frames.

Sorry...if they were spaced out a little more, you might have room to do it.

It's possible, but probably not cost effective unless that's a non bearing wall. It might be simpler to just remove the jambs, move whatever you want down there, then install new jambs. The rough hole will be 32" wide minium.
