I have an IDE Benq DW1655 DVD burner firmware BCIB

i've been trying to burn an audio cd but i keep getting coasters. i don't know if it's just a bad batch of CD-R's or if my dvd drive is taking a dump. the sad part is, i barely ever used it for burning purposes. the reading part of my dvd/cd is fine. i'm using a 50pack of sony cd-r's i got from BB on sale a month or so ago
i will try burning on my laptop to see if my spindle is causing a problem

are there settings in xp that i should mess around with?

Try adjusting the write speed in your burning software to a slower speed. And to answer your question, yes it is possible.

first thing i did was try adjusting speed.... i think it's shot :( damn. this cd drive was so short lived. i burned with it only a few times. and then it gradually started giving me coasters every 1 out of 3 discs. then every half. then now i can't even get a disc burnt :(
RIP benq never gonna buy you again!

Do you think the JMicron ide chipset may be causing it to not work right? I have the latest drivers for those though. so don't know what else i can do in that department.
