Is it possible for cable tv to screw up at a certain time of the year?

We got Charter Cable back in Jan/06 and everything was fine until Mar/Apr 06. The problem went away 3-4 mths later but now Mar 07, it's just starting to happen again. We had zero problems through the winter 06.

Panasonic 50" 50px50u plasma w/cablecard inserted. (no cablebox)

What happens is that the HD channels (sometimes the digital channels) will glitch and get all garbled/pixelated, go in and out.........picture is good one min, but a few min later it does the same thing. It does'nt always happen, and can be good at times. Analog channels are always good and have no problems ever.

Last year when it was happening, we called Charter and they ended up coming out 4 seperate times to try and remedy the problem. They replaced the main cable from the outside box to the tv, got rid of all the splices, but nothing fixed the problem.

I just don't understand why the problem arises at certain times of the year. Anybody have a clue?

I dunno, but I was watching TNT-HD on DirecTV last night and the same thing was happening, only milder. Lots of pixel squares popping up when ever anything moved, even slightly. Like it was a weak signal, but the signal meter on teh boc showed a strong signal.

It's called a sun-out. It will happen in the spring and fall when the sun lines up with the satellite and dish causing temporary disruptions in the signal. This usually happens later in the day.
If it happens later at night, go to your local cable office and give them hell, especially if it's an ongoing problem.
