Is it possible for a 5' 7" guy to make all his dunks and lose a slam dunk contest?

seriously?

Spudd was amazing. but if any 5' 7" guy was able to make all their dunks, is there any way that person could NOT win the slam dunk contest?

no, but think about it, a 5'7" guy to even make the dunk has to be in the air soo much longer than a 6'7" guy.

a 6'7" will have about 18" reach advantage over a 5'7" guy.

The dunk contests have always been rigged anyway.

Shawn Kemp should have won a few, but nobody ever gave props to the power-dunkers.

If the dunks sucked he could lose. Its a contest for who is the prettiest dunker, not the shortest.

How about this, take all of spud webbs dunks the year he won vs all the dunks of Vince Carter the year he won.

which of the two would you pick as a winner if you saw them back to back?

Dominique Williams won a couple and he was always considered a power dunker.

'Nique had some PRETTY dunks. He was a balanced dunker. Kemp was all about power, you felt that damn backboard shake when he put it down... and it wasn't just standard dunks either.

He gives me hope. For some reason I've had dreams where I could dunk the basketball....and I'm only 5' 7''

my youngest bro is 5'7" (only 15 though) and actively doing exercises so he can dunk

Your talking specific instances, I'm answering the general question that you asked in the subject line. I haven't watched basketball in about a decade anyways.

i don't actually think a 5'7" guy can do a "crappy" dunk. again, just the physical fact of his size makes a dunk by a 5'7" guy spectacular.

Well...that's the thing. His dunks were just plain vanilla. A 5'7" guy couldn't do anything spectacular

It's like if an NBA player tried being a jockey and got a decent time. Sure they went ahead and did something that requires a lot of skill, effort, and training for their size, but the fact is they're still mediocre at best.

well when spud webb won the dunk contest (in 1986 i think) his dunks weren't earth shattering, but the crowd loved it so much since it was a 5 foot 7 guy doing them, and the judges went his way.

they were also smooth and he had good style, but vince's winning dunks would beat it

i agree, Vince should beat Spudd. however, Spudd's dunks weren't that bad at all. from what i remember, he did a 180 (maybe 270), an alley-oop off the backboard, and a reverse when he pumped it between his legs. back then, those were decent dunks. it's not like Spudd did "normal" one handed dunks and he won just because he could dunk the ball.
