The XBOX uses a proprietarily shaped 70mm fan if I'm not mistaken... so barring some serious dremel action, you will be hard pressed to fit anything else in there

i dont see how it would be helpful since the cd/hd tray will be in the way and there will be no airflow so it would be pointless

get a chipset fan like would be used on the northbridge, open the case find a place drill some holes for ventilation and mounting and have a go, how you would power the fan may be more of an issue.

Ok now you could possibly fit like a really small 30-40m graphics card fan if you removed the xbox logo, however it would serve no purpose at all...except making you xbox look bad, and making it even noisier!

Right under that logo, is a plastic cage-like thing which supports the hard drive and the dvd drive. So between your fan and the hard drive\ cd rom drive you would have about half a millimeter , maybe 0.6 if your lucky :p

I actually have my case off at the moment, so if i get time ill take a picuture to show you. If not trust me in saying that the fan would serve no good purpose. There is space for other mods, like neons\led lighting, but other than that its a pretty tight fit. Guess microsoft didnt want to make it any bigger

THe Hard drive is driven by a traditional Molex connector, so what you coud do is follow that lead back to the PSU and solder into it directly in order to feed power to the things that need it. The other, safer option, would be to simply get a molex splitter and attach it to the end of the molex connector and then run one end to te HDD, and the other end to the item that is to be powered

Thanks, good one TheStu.

Has anyone here done any mods to their Xbox like add lights or painted it?

Yeah i have added a few blue cold cathode tubes under my controller ports. It was fairly easy, even though i broke one tube trying to get it in the right position. I never got around to finishing it (thats why the lid is still off my xbox), but i can send some pictures of what i have done.
