I'm not a Christian hence the question. I wished a couple of guys and one of them got back saying its a mourning thing and wishes aren't shared. I read online and quickly found out that its a mourning memorial kinda day. What I dont get is that many greeting sites have Good Friday cards on their home page today.

Is it offending?

You're not Christian, so why should you care? For you it's a day just like any other, and therefore all your interactions should be just like any other day's.

No, it's disgusting. It's offensive to even ask about wishes on good Friday!

On Easter Sunday you go RIGHT TO HELL for pulling a wish bone!

On St. Sebastian's day if you cross your fingers one of them SHOULD be chopped off.

and don't even get me started on Christmas and hoping for something...

Lot of non Christians would probably get offended the same way they get offended when you say Christmas instead of xmas or holidays, then again people get offended at anything these days so screw em. Do what you feel is right.

Here's a little secret though: Lot of Christian churches have a bacon and eggs breakfast on good Friday. Well, at least ours does. Yes, Free bacon. If that wont lure a non Christian in, I don't know what will.

I am a Catholic,

I was always taught Good Friday is more of a solemn occasion. I never heard or said "happy Good Friday" to or from any other Catholics.

Easter Sunday is more of a day of celebration.

I could see some Christians getting offended if they think you are "celebrating" the day Jesus died.

Should he act like he DOESN'T know that today is Good Friday? Just because you don't believe something doesn't mean you can't try to be respectful of someone else's beliefs and acknowlede the existence of the holiday.

I was taught that Good Friday is about loss.

And Easter is about redemption.

Normally, I just tell people to have a Good Easter.

It is supposed to be a solemn day in preparation for Easter. It is not a day for mourning just a day in recognition for Jesus's sacrifice for out sins.

It is only proper to wish people well on Easter. Good Friday is the day Jesus died. Easter is celebrated because that is the day Jesus flew into space.

Ah yes, it's so clear. Wishing makes so much more sense:

I wished a couple of guys and one of them got back saying its a mourning thing and wishes aren't shared.

Right; OP is a woman/gay and wished a couple of guys; when they appeared because of his wish they were all like "hey, its good Friday, being called upon as a wish based gigolo is inappropriate because wishes are wrong on this day".

Fact, 100%.

Ah, ok. Yes, that make sense now.

OP, it is wrong to treat Jesus like a genie in a lamp on Good Friday. He only grants wishes on Easter. Come on! I thought everyone knew this!

Given both the nature of the holidays in question, as well as the tendency of people to have family gettogethers, I usually wish people a pleasant easter weekend.
