If I can give you some advice, if you're not compliant with wearing your retainers as you should, go back to your orthodontist and insist that he put in those bonded retainers. It's just a sturdy metal band that gets bonded to the back-side of your teeth and holds them in place while your bone hardens.

I WISH these were available after I had my braces off because wearing a retainer was such a royal pain in the ass. I kept freaking losing them, and a few of them got broke from being in my pocket or bag. I finally started leaving them at home because it was such a pain in the ass.

My top teeth didn't move much at all, there wasn't much correction on them, but my bottom teeth are back to the way they were before getting braces. So all that pain, discomfort, and expense was a waste, because there's no way I'm doing it again.

Its okay to put your retainers in after your teeth have moved a little, but its going to be a very tight fit for the next couple days and they're probably gonna be sore as hell for a few days. Your teeth will move and conform to the retainer, but you have GOT to use it like you're supposed to.
