Is it okay to use a 5-volt power plug in a product that needs a 4.5 volt input?

My dad just got a Sony radio that has a DC-in 4.5 volt jack, but it didn't come with an adapter. We have a 5-volt adapter (basically a power brick that plugs into the wall) sitting around our house. Is it okay to use it, or would it damage the radio?

I wouldnt recommend it...

Yeah, I'm just gonna go out and tell him to get a Sony 4.5 volt one. It also runs on batteries so it's fine for the time being.

Shouldn't be too bad, but I wouldn't run it like that for a long time. As a temporary solution it will work fine.

What is the amperage? I would overvolt it, but I wouldn't over amp it.

Not sure - I'd have to check. I'd rather my dad got the proper Sony power cord though - it was a damn expensive radio (I got it for him for a birthday present).
