So I had a post bout a week ago work rant

the way some things are done in Fortran just doesn't translate to Ada DIRECTLY... or at least not to my knowledge since i started learning both languages in the past week. i am sure it CAN be done, but i'll have to find work arounds, and i am not sure if they want me to hack up the program and change the way it runs. (its a program for radar simulations.)

I mean yeah given an unlimited about of time i will get this thing done. but considering i work twice a week as an intern, this will literally take a very very long time. should i suck it up and take my sweet time doing this or voice my opinion and sound like a whiny b!tch?

i was hired as an intern to do Gui programming in VB. This program is all cmd based.

1) Steal the code
2) Convert it to C++ or JAVA
3) ...
4) Profit?

Sounds like ur boss is just taking advantage of you. Programmers who do this stuff get paid at least twice what ur getting. Also, most of the stuff being done nowadays is C++ or Java, not ada or fortran. Or, if he's so ignorant, maybe u can convince him that now everybody does stuff in basic. ;)

You should have more confidence in yourself. Don't be afraid of your boss - it's worse for you to sit there and not say boo. You only live once, you're a smart guy so just tell him whatever's on your mind dude. Otherwise you'll continue to get shafted. Tell him you want to do it differently so you can finish faster. Then you can come nef like everyone else @ work.

You're telling me this... why? Either STFU and TRY to do your job without wasting time bitching that you don't know how, or buck up and tell your boss that he needs to assign you different tasks because you lack the experience and intelligence to learn and complete the task in the time allotted.

Seriously.

you make it seem like i have already given up? i am doing this thing right now, just at a point of frustration.

i don't think it was an appropriate project to assign an intern in the first place. this isn't "hello world" after all.
