I used it about 2 years ago and I want to sell it with a card and everything because I don't use Dish Network anymore and could use some extra bucks.

Does the satellite company allow you to sell these?

Can somebody somehow defraud me by having it?

These are probably dumb questions but, better safe than sorry.

THe Reciever (IRD) doesn't matter. Anyone can sell em. You have to have the cards to work.

When selling a reciever with your CARD, you must make sure to call the company to CYA when it arrives to the buyer. Not calling them should not present you a problem.....but I've got an old Dish network dish player, and the card was never activated, but it does belong to me. WHen I cancelled my service because of stupid Dish Network's replacment policy...>I asked them about selling the product. They said that since my card was never activated, it wouldn't be a problem. But they also said if I have any other recievers to sell, to give them a call first to make sure it's a valid card without any other problems attached to it.

Although I find it hard to believe---one of the areas where he said I could get burnt is if there's a balance attached to that card. According to the CSR---if there is then the new owner won't be able to activate it.

I think he's FOS, but I'd hate to sell the reciever and then have the guy buyin it not be able to use it.

IMO, what's more dangerous comes from people trying to sell recievers with modded cards, or Black Sunday'd cards. Those cards wont' work unless they're reset...and you have to have a custom setup to do that. There's been a lot of scams especially regarding Recievers w/ older H Cards.

So Yes. You can. At least that's what my Dish Representative told me when I cancelled my service.
