Is it okay to post a political thread in P&N and then mock it in ATOT?

Obviously posting the political thread in P&N is okay

What if I also create a post in ATOT that links to the political thread exclaiming, "This P&N thread is a flamefest and hilarious! Keep political topics in the P&N thread." Would that be allowed? I can't find anything in the forum guidelines. Technically the ATOT post is an off topic post for comedy's sake, so it fits as an ATOT post.

I wanted to post here to make sure it was okay before I did it.

If you check the rules in the Personal Issues forums, you'll see rule #10 (without checking, I think that's the one) that prohibits cross-posting.

Indeed, here is rule #10

10) Post in the right forum. Topics posted where they don't belong will be moved. If the subject matter of a topic is broad or vague enough to fit into more than one category, please only pick the one that seems to be the best fit. Threads on the same topic are not allowed to be cross-posted in multiple forums unless members in one forum suggest taking it elsewhere after addressing the issue.

However, wouldn't you agree that technically the ATOT post would not be a cross-post? The P&N post is about politics, the ATOT post's topic is the P&N forum (and how silly a place it is).

But that would only lead to more flaming ("Haha, that xxx dude is a flame-retardant douche! lulz!) and the thread would get locked on that merit alone.

I think we are all aware of the hilarity that ensues in P&N. Making fun of the armchair warriors - by name - would only lead to more bad blood. Just find a way to discreetly start a topic on the same subject and someone will eventually link the gems from the equivalent P&N thread. ;)

The best that would happen is nothing would come of it. The worst that could happen is bad blood between members of the two threads (topics) within the AT community. What purpose would that serve? While you might find the passion of some members of P&N funny, the ones posting would not. I also find some of the posters in the Video card forum and the Power supply forum passionate about the subject(s) they post. I would not think of making fun of their posting and I would lock a thread that did.

The whole purpose of what you propose doing is to get a rise from the P&N membership and then to mock them. Why would you want to possibly divide the community? Just leave it alone. Myself, I would not allow the thread in OT and I would lock it.

But technically I'm making fun of a post that I created. I'm not making fun of someone else's post, I'm mocking my own (and the ensuing ridiculousness).

And that last part of my sentence leads to your point. Thus, I won't make the proposed ATOT post.

No cross posting. You ought to also get some time out for trolling.

i did this once. any mod can look in my "permanent record" to verify. i actually didn't know "cross-posting" wasn't allowed and found out the hard way.
