Is it okay to eat a month old apple?

I found an apple in my fridge that looked good so I ate it. It tasted good, but was 4 weeks old. Is that safe to eat?

You check a piece of fruit by looking for squishy spots and discoloration! apples keeps for a long time,people used to store them in root cellars

Actually only certain types are like that. However, the kind most people buy at the store do keep pretty much infinatly. Some of the more "rare" kind (ie: not every store sells them) will only keep a month or so.

We have three orchards, we're usually in apples all through winter
