I found an apple in my fridge that looked good so I ate it. It tasted good, but was 4 weeks old. Is that safe to eat?

It must be safe or else it would've been on "Fear Facter" by now.

Apples are one of the few fruits that will stay fresh indefinitely if you store them properly.

I cannot believe some of the questions asked here.Don't you guys have mothers?

You check a piece of fruit by looking for squishy spots and discoloration! apples keeps for a long time, people used to store them in root cellars:)

Anyway, thanks to the domestic knowledge of females, which is what they were made for, I now know that eating month old apples is safe.

Actually only certain types are like that. However, the kind most people buy at the store do keep pretty much infinatly. Some of the more "rare" kind (ie: not every store sells them) will only keep a month or so.

We have three orchards, we're usually in apples all through winter :)
