is it ok to wear all black for a job interview?

i got an interview with Amerian Express as a financial advisor tomorrow.

i can look pretty nice in all black: black dress pants, black shoes, black shirt, jacket, AND black tie... is it too morbid looking or should i wear a nice solid color for a tie to give it a zing? (like light champainge etc..)

All black is probably a bad idea for a business environment. You are getting a job, not modeling for GQ.
Unless you are getting a job with the family...then it's probably the usual attire.

You must be kidding.
you want as conservative a dress as possible.
White shirt
blue suit
black shoes and belt

At least toss something other than a black tie in there! I have a tie that's Salvador Dali's "The Persistence of Memory" - it kicks ass 😀

no it is not OK. As a Financial Advisor, you should have a look of a classic businessman. Maybe go with a gray shirt to break it up.

exactly. you want to portray yourself as being more conservative, responsible, etc. and not like you're about to go clubbing.

I heard they invented these neat things called commas 😉

you have enought posts to have been here long enough to realize that i dont give a fuk

and you will want some kind of color in your attire, not just white black and shades inbetween.
Maybe go with a diagonaly striped tie. Should have 3-4 colors in it. The diagonal lines will help offset the "boring" tone of a business suit.

I spent a year in advertising and marketing so i know about all this stuff about how color and design makes a majority of people think.

i think u need black shades too.
well last time i was interviewed, i took the damn red pill and they said they'll call me back.
At least you got a pill. I had to eat some dirt.

I know a guy who works at Amex as a financial advisor.
You'll get laughed at if you wall in all "GQ"
Just put on a sensible outfit - slacks, tie, etc. And you'll be fine.
Your main draw should be your personality and your qualifications, not your ability to dress.

Will you give a fuk about grammar when you're working for American Express as a financial advisor ? Or is attention to detail something you can turn on and off?

White shirt

Get the nicest suit you can afford. Unless you are really special, the people who will be interviewing you are not looking for someone who is not willing or able to wear a dark suit with a white shirt and silk tie for an interview.

Neither BingBongWongFooey nor TheEvil1 are interviewing for AmEx. It's LOLyourFace and he has very good grammar, so there. Dumbass.

LOLyourFace, take everyone else's advice and go with a sensible suit, not the GQ look. Good luck at the interview; I know you'll knock their socks off. *hugs*

🙂

if you are going to wear a black suit, do not weat a white shirt with a black tie. Other wise, you are good to go.

Fair enough, but take out the part about AmEx and the question still remains... When do you give a fuk about grammar and is attention to detail something you think you can turn on and off?

Oh, and bite me, Dickhead.
