Is it ok to use different resolution on LCD long term ?

I have a 17" Dell LCD with native res of 1280x1024 (at 32bit), that's what I set it on now.
Is it safe for the LCD to run it at 1024x768x32 instead (for long term)?
Any side effect ?

Technically, yes, no problem. It's just silly to do that, since you'll only get the perfectly sharp crystal clear display of an LCD panel if you match its native resolution exactly, pixel by pixel. Else you get interpolated blurry display.

I know it is silly 🙂
But my wife can't see very well and enlarging the font seems to screw up the way website is displayed.
She can see well on my previous 19" CRT that I set on 1024x768.
I guess I just have to see how bad it looks and see if she can live with that.
Thanks for the answer.

Enlarging the font would be the way to go. If a web site displayes incorrectly with any given font size, then it's broken by design. Contact the designer.
