Is it ok to plug a 24 pin PS into a 20 pin MOBO without adapter?

Well I didn't realize this was going to be the case, but when putting my friend's computer together last night, I found that they were mismatched. There is a marking on the PS 24 pin connector that clearly shows which are the four extra, and it fits on the motherboard fine.

Is there any reason this would cause a problem? Will I fry my mobo?

And on a completely unrelated note, can anyone recommend where I can get some cheap 5.25 to 3.5 drive bay adapters? Thanks!!

If it fits ok, then there shouldn't be problem. Of course, as long as those leftover 4-pins are not plugged into or touching other parts on the mobo. 😛 What 24-20 adapter does is keeping those 4-pins out of other parts, anyway.

What kind of PSU? On my Antec (see sig) the additional 4 pin can actually be disconnected from the connector to make it a 20 pin....
