Is it OK to "mix" the memory "BRAND"?

I have a 790FX board with a 5400+ CPU running VISTA 32 with 2gb (2 x 1gb) PC 8500 OCZ Reaper.

I have 2gb (2 x 1gb) of Patriot Viper PC8500 sitting on my desk.

If I wanted to run 4gb total on my motherbaord would it be ok to put the 2gb of OCZ and the 2gb of Patriot togehter for a total of 4gb?

I can't see that it will be a problem. Just make sure that they can run the same settings, then plug them both in.

It shouldn't be a problem, but you have to run them at the same voltage, speed and timings.

Yeah make sure they have a relatively common voltage at which they can both operate within their specifications...typically that'll be 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, or 2.1V.

Check the specified cycle timings on the specification sheets and using CPU-Z with them installed. Hopefully they'll be similar like 4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15. If one has a larger number in any cycle time position then they'll both need to run at that larger number slower setting in theory.

Combine them so the identical sticks are in one channel.

Sometimes different mems won't run together without problems. If your machine boots you should run memtest for some hours just to be on the safe side. If memtest produces no errors then you should be fine.
