Is it ok to leave a USB flash drive plugged in all the time?

I have a Sandisk Cruzer that I leave plugged into my computer all the time as I'm just using it to back up my important files daily using Synctoy. Would this lower the life of the drive or is it ok?

Microsoft supports leaving a permanent USB drive on Vista using their "ReadyBoost" concept, and estimates the life of the USB drive to be several years. And that's when it's constantly writing, which is what will most reduce its life.

So, I'd say the answer is, "No, it won't affect the Cruzer's life."

probably the biggest danger is since it is always sticking out it has a greater chance of being hit/kicked/bumped into. so depending on where your computer and USB port are may want to be careful

If you are using on a notebook then yes but if you are going to plug in with your desktop pc on the back I dont see why it will kicked or bumped.
