I went to lunch with my former boss (he wasn't my former boss at the time) and he was in his car and driving down a different isle in the parking lot when he saw a "really good spot" that someone was backing out of. He handed me an orange cone and told me to jump out and put it in the spot. I started laughing because I thought he was joking, then I started laughing hysterically when I realized he wasn't. Needless to say I didn't get out of the car in time to save his spot. He was kind of pissed and then drove off and left me standing there. I was pissed, I put the stupid orange cone in the trash can and called my wife to come pick me up. When I got back to work, he had the audacity to ask me where his stupid orange cone was. I told him exactly where he could find it. Needless to say I don't work for him anymore.

Most people here would just honk at the person while waving their arms to get out of the way, while they continue to proceed.

You probably want to put a trailer or motorcycle in the spot if yo want to save it.

Car's bigger. Feather the clutch until you're parked.
I imagine if you even touch the person it would be assault. Just pull in enough to block whoever they are saving it for and say you aren't moving so they might as well move along. If they persist, lay on the horn.

Get out and greet her with flowers for being an upstanding citizen and apologize for the audacity of expecting a parking space after waiting.

It's a DB move but what are you gonna do if they refuse to move, run them over?

wait it out.

beat a troll by being a troll.

Yeah, I like that idea. You can't run her over even though I damn sure wouldn't convict a person that did. Provided the parking lot is busy enough then a line of cars will build up and peer pressure alone will make her move. Just make it clear that whoever she is saving the space for is not getting by you and will NEVER get that space.

Yeah, but what if the other guy (the one still driving that they are trying to hold for) finds another parking spot, and you're sitting there still without one? Not a good way to win as the troll, because ultimately you're supposed to get the last laugh in the troll world.

I would put in drive and inch forward as slow as possible. It's pretty much impossible to actually run someone over when you're going that slow, right?

I dunno, I have a very high level of asshole and while I don't stand in parking spaces if I was to be in that situation I'd just sit my ass down and play on my phone. How much time you got bud?

my phone is connected to my car charger, so I have more battery than you do. And I have music + heat/ac. Might as well call a postmate to deliver food so I can eat in the car too, maybe deliver some smore supplies cuz we camping now!

I don't live in an urban area that requires fighting other people for parking.

I love it.

That's BS, especially in a parking garage which are annoying as hell to find a space in if they're packed.

I'm a wuss, so I probably would have just honked and kept driving while muttering horrible obscenities.

Parking downtown in my city is ridiculous, but anywhere else there's plenty of parking. I can't imagine having to deal with that all the time. Like when I visit big cities like Toronto it's like "where do people even park?". Just so much traffic and people it's crazy. You can try to find an underground parking lot to park in but those can be expensive. Would be crazy if that was your only option every day.

No it's not ok. Depending on if I was in a rush or not, I would definitely wait out that troll lady.

When you’ve worked for a company as long as I have, your work days are a never ending series of Seinfeld episodes.

I would start a separate thread and put them all in there, but my memories are usually triggered by various thread topics.

Hey if you are committed to stay beyond the stores hours then I applaud you sir! I was just talking about being an asshole for assholes sake but to spend the day not getting the shit you need done to be an asshole too is a worthy opponent indeed.
