I disabled the offline files service. Is this ok?

I don't use IE nor network file sync

Offline files has nothing to do with IE and it doesn't do anything at all unless you mark a CIFS shared directory as available offline.

If you don't know what a service does, don't touch it. In fact, unless you're having a specific issue with services, don't touch them. The "BlackViper" days are old and unneeded.

An idle service consumes very little, if any, resources and disabling it can have unintended side-effects because MS likes to bundle features into seemingly unrelated services. You may save some bootup time by disabling a number of what you believe to be unused services, but that's about it. Just use sleep/hibernation instead. =)
