We have our gigabit core switch in the server room, and all classroom/lab switches (which are 24 port 100mbit with 2 gigabit ports) and the other switches in the server room are connected to it. The old core switch didnt have enough ports so one of the classroom switches wasnt connected to the core and was running at 100mb instead of gigabit.
Anyway, we got a new core switch with more ports. So I went to connect that one classroom switch right to the core. The classroom already has 2 switches, Switch A is already running at gigabit speed. Would it be ok for me to connect Switch B to the remaining gigabit port on Switch A?
Its really not a big deal since there is another uplink port on the patch panel that goes to the server room that I can use, but I was just curious if I can just connect it to Switch A instead.
Thanks
