is it normal to not get data on vz bb for 5-10 minutes

my blackberry tour regularly has periods of 5-10 minutes when it cant get data service even when i have 4 bars. is that normal for 3g? sometimes if i close the browser that seems to help but not always

Not normal for me on Sprint, but I don't have a blackberry either. I get consistent 3g pretty much everywhere. I doubt its Verizon thats the problem though sounds like an issue with the phone.
