hrm, i had my wisdom teeth taken out 8daysago, but there is this gaping hole next to my back left molar left. i can probably stick a grain of rice back there, and the hole is pitch black, so it's kind of disturbing to me. i was wondering if anyone had experience with this and if it closed up soon. i'm worried. 🙁

Yes, it's normal, not everyone heals at the same rate. It will get better eventually. The doctor can give you some medication for it if you're really worried about it.

I had all four of mine out exactly 2 weeks ago.

I still have holes. In fact, I'm still a tiny but sore.

This is very normal. Think of the trauma your mouth just went through.

yes it's normal. it'll eventually heal. did the doc give you a plastic syringe so you can flush out the holes? cause if they don't food can lodge itself back there and will give you very very...i mean...very horrendous bad breath. make sure you rinse with salt warm water every time you eat.

it's completely normal and takes a while to heal. Don't sweat it 🙂

thanks for the reassurance, everyone! sigh. guess i'll have to wait it out.

and buttzilla, yes he did, and i have been trying to be really clean about it. i've been doing the syringe + salt water thing (for a day since the doc gave it to me yesterday), as well as brushing pretty carefully and rinsing with listerine after each time i eat.

dang holes!

I had this when I had my wisdon teeth removed several years ago. I seem to remember it took a couple of months for my gums to get back to normal.
