Is it normal for a steering wheel to lock at a 30 degree angle?

I have a 2002 chevy Prizm LSi. When i turn off the car, the steering wheel locks at a 30 degree angle but the wheels are straight. In my previous car ('93 Sentra), it locks straight. The dealership said that's how the lock plate is. Is there a way for my steering wheel to lock straight?

probably just using up the slack in your steering to hit the steering lock. in my car it doesnt lock until i move the steering wheel in either direction about 30* like yours.. i would say its normal...
