Is it necessary to use AVRs?

I think its something everybody overlooks. There are more dips and sags in electricity than spikes, so an AVR would boost it up to normal levels. It would also cut down overvoltage so I think its really handy. I was in the market for a higher end surge protector a month ago and I was shopping around. Came to Circuit City, and they had this Belkin Regulator Pro 525VA UPS for only $69. Its got AVR plus UPS so I got it. So far no problems, charged the batteries and tested it unplugging it. The transition to battery power is seamless. Tripplite and APC also has AVR on its higher end UPS's. Its a feature anybody should look at when buying UPS's.
