Hey guys... i just purchased this UPS from newegg to protect my computer:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16842102048

SHould i plugin my LCD monitor to the batter backup plug as well? I have a 37" westinghouse LCD that i use as my computer monitor. Do i face the same risks of equipment damage with my LCD as i do my computer?

Note: My UPS has 6 slots that does surge protection and also battery backup while it has 2 slots that does only surge protection... i was thinking of just plugging in my LCD Monitor and Printer to the surge protection plugs...

Do you want to be able access you computer when you have a power failure then I would plug in the monitor if you can support the total devices with your UPS.

OH yeah, i forgot... no that's not really a concern of mine, i'll set my computer/ups to shut off fairly quickly after a blackout, i'm just wondering if, for example, a brownout occurs, whether my monitor would be at risk. I know my computer could get damaged if that happens and i didn't have it plugged into the UPS.

I dont know what your printer and monitor are plugged into now but if it doesnt have as good protection the I would deferentially use the UPS for them.

Hmmm, ok... well hopefully my LCD and printer don't suck up too much power... thanks

Well anything you plug into the surge part of the UPS like your stated in your first post will have surge protection only which is where you will plug in non essentil items like your monitor and printer. There are 4 surge only plugs from my viewing of UPS so you still have 2 plugs to use if needed. Your Welcome.

i dont know if LCDs are as sensitive to surge spikes (like during a thunderstorm) or Brownouts (???) BUT a TV of mine (an old sony CRT flatscreen) wouldn't turn on after a night of thunderstorms because it wasn't connected to a surge protector...
