Is it neccesary to reinstall an OS when swapping cpus?

Would I need to reinstall windows (me) if I were to swap a pIII 1ghz in place of a celeron 500? What about installing an os on a dual mobo with only 1 cpu and adding the second later?

When you swap a cpu and goto a faster one, there shouldn't be a need to re-install the OS... If you add a second processor, and are using NT4 you will likely need to reinstall the OS... (There is another option, but it might not work. Check the NT4 resource kit) Since Win9x doesnt use more than one processor, your fine there. Just gotta watch out for NT!
