hello, i have a problem with my computer and was wondering if you can tell me what might be the problem. my computer froze the other day and i decide to reset it. when it was about to start up it just kept beeping continously. i waited a little bit cause i thought it might be over heating, but it would keep beeping even after 20 minutes. the next day i tried to turn it on again and same thing. so i guess overheating is ruled out. do you think this means my ram is bad? any help is appreciated

RAM would be my first guess, but a good way to tell is to download the program memtest86 and run it on the affected computer (it runs in its own operating environmne, not windows, so it will run) I put it on loop and run it for several hours, if there are memory errors, it will turn them up, and tell you which stick is affected. If it doesn't turn anything up, check back

If you have the manual for your motherboard, it may give you a listing that tells you what various beep codes mean. It could be your memory, your vid card, or a number of other things.

Try reseating everything that plugs in (RAM, vid card, sound card. etc.) If you have more than one stick of memory, try removing one, then another, to find out if one stick is bad.
