I'm at home doing whatever and the doorbell rings once... I check the window to see who it is (mid-day visitors are uncommon)... I see it's some politician-looking dude with a pamphlet in his hand so I decide not to answer it - pretend nobody's home - I'm sure he didn't see me at the window. A few seconds later, he tries to open my front door... then walks away - not even to the next house to sell his crap there...

WTF ?!

that's when i would have been outside asking him wtf he was trying to open my front door

my opinion, he's casing houses to rob, if someone answers the door he gives them a spiel so bad that they just shut the door in his face and he moves on to the next target that looks good

keep an eye out, seriously

Maybe he was pretending to be a salesman in order to find an easy target, such as an unlocked front door. Since alot of men work during the day, and alot of wives stay at home, he might something like a serial rapist. I've never heard of any honest salesman trying to open someone's front door if no one answers. Perhaps I'm just a little paranoid, but I don't see anything but bad things happening in this type of situation.

Yeah I'd give this some thought too. Trying the door only means he was seeing if it was locked.

You may want to call the police to at least file a report.

What are you doing at home in the middle of day? Fapping? Man, you should've opened the door and given him a bukkake.

I do have an ADT sign outside showing I have an alarm system. I'm not sure why he'd case my house and not my neighbors'... they're definitely easier targets.

They have caught a number of burglars using that scheme. Sounds very suspicious and a call to the cops might be in order.

that's definitely a WTF moment. i'd keep an eye on him for one, but i would definitely try to ask him why he tried to open the door if he was still within earshot.

"eh, WTF mate?"

Seriously rh71, like others have suggested contact your local police precinct, others may have noticed the same thing.

LMAO

seriously, this is not cool I'd call the police and give them his description. secondly, I dont know if I would've opened the door, maybe just to snap a picture of him.

Reminds me of the time I had some guy come by my house a few months after I settled on it. He came up asking for my shed thats in the backyard, he said it was his. He was quite serious, insisted He put it there before we bought the house, to store his things in while he worked on the house. Too bad it was conveyed in the contract and on the property when we signed for it. But it was funny because he kept coming back at different times of the day.

"no? well have a nice day, see you in a couple months"

Call the cops. We had an even dumber one last year trying to "sell" stuff. He showed up at 8pm and the brochures he had in his hand didn't even match his sales pitch. A neighbor had called the cops who showed up when he was couple doors down. One more parole violator bounced back in jail.
