Is it me or is the Win10 virtual keyboard absolutely dreadful?

Using it on my Windows 10 tablet. It shows a row of suggestions above the keyboard, which is nice for letting me know that it actually contains a dictionary, but doesn't server any other purpose. It doesn't actually insert any of those suggestions when I misspell a word, making said dictionary useless. It just inserts the mistyped word no matter how closely it matches a suggestion.

So to use the keyboard:
1. Type one word
2. Look at the word you just typed to see whether it's mistyped or not
3a. If mistyped, look at the suggestions and pick the one that applies
3b. If not mistyped, press space and move on to the next word

My workflow with Swiftkey on Android:
1. Type a word
2. Press space, the keyboard is intelligent enough to determine whether the word is correctly typed or not. If it isn't, it inserts the first suggestion, which is correct 99% of the time.

I'd say the Microsoft keyboard is about 10 - 15 times slower to type on than Swiftkey.

I disagree. I personally find it fine. The only thing I miss is swipe to spell. I find the autocorrect fine and as soon as I put the cursor on a misspelt word my options to correct pop back up.

Case in point. I spent more time thinking what to write here than I spent thinking about how to type it.

Matter of personal preference. I personally hate autocorrect. It would be nice for others though to have the option.

I just hate how it never moves what you're typing into above the keyboard like my Android ones do. The Windows 10 OSK is why I bought a Rapoo E6700 Bluetooth Touch Keyboard to go with my tablets (Windows & Android).
