Is it me or is the entire COD4 MP community a cancer on the ass of society?

For real though - I'm retiring that game for TF2. At least the community that (Seemingly) plays that game is a little more mature.

Ugh, if someone else calls me a "fagg0t" a word that you should be castrated for using anyway, I'm going to throw up in my own mouth.

sorry to say but you'll find the same thing in any game that involves playing with other people.

if you don't want it, stick to SP.

TF2 and COD4 have actually been pretty good in this regard for me. It's CS:S and DOD:S that get pretty bad at times. I guess as time goes on the jackasses will migrate over to these games as well. :(

Mainly playing against other people, rather than with. You find more immature idiots in PvP games, whether they be MMORPGs, FPSs, or some other genre.

Some communities are worse than others, but a good thing to do with any Multiplayer game is to find a Good Server that's Moderated and stick with it.

I've had good luck with TF2 servers. Most people I play with don't chat at all and I like it that way.

I don't think any PC game could ever compete with the mind-numbing stupidity of the XBox Live community. I don't even own one, but just listening to some of it second hand from when I watch a friend play his... lordy.

The thing I used to love about EQ was the community, but MMORPG communities, or almost every online game community, are now full of assholes. Maybe I just was prepared to ignore them in the past?

There is always a few bad apples.

In EQ 1 I had this guy (I was stupid yes) not pay me the balance for some armor I made. I trusted him to pay a certain amount and he never paid me the rest.

In EQ II there was this cleric who ignored me in chat and tells on a trip up Lavastorm. I died to drakes and he just left me there, kicked me from group, and never said a word to me.

I have joined groups in EQ II and LOTRO that boot me without a word or reply.

I rarely play any online game especially MMO's. They usually treat peopl the worst.

I have played a few FPS's online, when it doesnt require too much work to get connected. Those have generally been pretty good to me.
AvP 2
FEAR
BF 2
BF 1942
D3, Q4

Also Diablo 2 and Starcraft.

It seems like most RTS's are too much of a pain to get into online. But SC was a decent experience.

It seems like in MMO's especially RPG's people are too damn worried about getting stuff and they will toss you aside if you endanger their precious character. Diablo 2 had a bunch of leeches and Guild Wars is alright but I would rather do it single player.

Am sorry that COD4 is so especially bad. I guess the era of immature 12-year-olds ruling video game land hasnt changed much.
It was the same way with me and my NES/SNES days.

People rarely chat in TF2 in my experience. And when they do, 90% of the time it's the n-word.

Hell, I'm too lazy to even tell my medic to uber me. I just press the E a bunch of times, charge in and hope for the best.

One day me and a friend were playing TF2 at like 3am. And it appeared everyone else on the server was an amateur white rapper. It was incredibly stupid and funny all at the same time. All talk was on and when one died he would challenge the other to a rap battle. Oh my god. If I wasn't so tired I'm sure it wouldn't have been as funny as it was.

EQ had consequences for being a retard. Characters took a long time to level up and it was difficult to move servers, so you were basically 'stuck' with the reputation you created for your character. If you couldn't get groups, you couldn't level and if you couldn't get into raids, you couldn't experience most of the game. This all kept people in check similar to the real world.

But, the assholes were still there, in the background, usually being passive aggressive dicks instead of their usual full on asshole mode. It created a lot of edgy scenarios where people would act differently around other people.... fake personalities.

TF2 has been relatively good to me. Most of the time the asshats stay away or get kicked by admins.

There are a few all-talk servers I play on now and then where people are constantly chatting, but it's not annoying for the most part and if it becomes annoying I just find another server.

That's a feature.

The best community I've experienced is BF2. This game has probably the most mature players.

1 huge factor is the fact I cannot hear the other team or hear other squads and written text goes written unnoticed because of all the action and pre-written radio messages.

But even though, I can usually get the other members to work as a team if they have a mic.

---------------------

The worst is counter strike. This game is the sole reason we have words like n00b, pwn, h4ck, l33t, etc.

If you ask a question on line through text or mic, everyone calls you a gay !@#@, and n00b, and all other names. What a bunch of idiots.

I was getting kicked from TF2 game the other day (prior to startup). The only thing I could garner was that everyone was set up for chat other than me.

I found the best way to get away from the bad apples when playing a online game is to join a clan.

Just make sure you get into one that is not ran by kids.

The clan I am in is ran by 2 or 3 people that have kids. We do have a few young people in the clan, but never have any issues with them. The bad apples never last long. We clown around on TS and play games. We have features on our website that many clans do not have. One of our newest things is a store/raffle site. The raffle part is the big deal. We have our own servers for COD4, FEAR, and CSS. New box we just got and we are adding games to it. Our old box had a long list of games running on it. We just got to get alot of those back up and running. That is if the site admin want to put them back up.

I am only a game admin for the clan. So it is not really up to me what is ran on the box. Just PM me if you want to check out the site or want to check out our COD4 server.

Worst players I've seen online have been on Counter-Strike and Xbox Live. Bunch of f'ing kiddies.

I've rarely a problem on Team Fortress 2, a large majority of the players seem mature and I'm able to talk strategies and whatnot with them, and I rarely see kiddie insults in the chat or over the microphone.

I usually just turn off the voice feature. All that ever comes from that is a bunch of squeaky voiced teens calling everyone fags anyway...its not like useful information is garnered from it.

Its stuff like this is why i joined a "clan" and played on closed servers. I only joined non-competitive clans that played other similar clans. It was a great way to keep the douchebaggery to a minimum.

Could be reserved slots, so if you are trying to get the last slot, they just auto-kick you because it is reserved. I've also been kicked before startup on a server that has a timer on how long you are allowed to be in spectator mode; even though I was just logging in and not spectating, but it took too long to 'send client info' so i got kicked. :frown:

CSS I don't have issues with. I just play on our servers. Xbox Live on the other hand can get really bad. Try to have a good friends list and you will find good times.
