Is it me or is Netflix getting slower these days?

I remember when I signed up last year. Their service was excellent. They have a warehouse in a city right next to mines (about 20 minutes away). So it would only take one day for them to receive anything I sent back. It would also take one day for me to receive from their reported shipping date. Now sometimes it takes 3+ days for them to receive it. It doesn't make sense that it takes 3 days for first class mail to be mailed to a city right next to mines. Are they growing too big too fast or are they purposely holding onto returned DVDs longer? Hm..

Sometimes, they have to mail the movie you want from a different state. I'm sure your return dvd gets there usually in a day or two right?

I've checked and they all came from the same warehouse that I send them too. Plus even if they had to send it from another warehouse, it would show online as shipped.

Netflix moved their distribution centers into existing rebate processing centers to save money. I went to rent "Last of the Mohicans" and got a seagate rebate instead.

Right, sometimes when they ship 2 dvds both from different location on the sameday, even in my queue, they would show 2 different arrival dates. Wish they would tell me where it is coming from. The could send you A-Team DVD1 from Florida and A-Team DVD2 from Hawaii, but you would always return both of them to the same warehouse.

Also, if you rent something rare that they only have a few copies of, it'll usually take an extra day at least for me.

my real complaint isnt the arrival of the dvds. my main complaint is them receiving it. like i said i only live like 20 minutes away. it shouldn't take more than 1 day, 2 days at most for them to receive whatever i return. but it doesn't show up on my account as returned 3+ days after i sent it in. it wasn't like this last year.

sometimes it's quick, sometimes it's not ... depends on the week, i guess.

my turnaround is anywhere from 2-6 days. what really sucks is when they get lost on the way back. i usually wait about a week after i sent it to report it lost.

I saw that movie many times @ school,

Are you one of the infringe-and-retun-immediately people? I wouldn't be surprised if they have throttling in place to keep such people from renting excessive numbers of discs each month.

They did the same thing after about 6 months of subscribing with them. In fact, they even located a distribution center an hour from me (the other center I was getting ALL mine was 3 hours away) and it was still took a week after sending mine in before getting new ones. I have read over and over on other forums about this same occurrence, and many people do believe that their system recognizes people who return too quickly. For example, myself, I would usually get mine on Friday, then watch the 3 movies over the weekend, and immediately mail them back Monday. I really do think they purposely do this to prevent the excess cost of people over-using their system.

By the way, I cancelled soon after.

Hmmm. I am on the 8 DVDs out at a time plan and I usually get my next set of DVDs around 4-5 days after I mail the old ones. Maybe my distro center is just quick. I've heard numerous complain about it though. I hope they don't go downhill cause I love them and hate Blockbuster.

Does anyone have a list of all the warehouses they have?

The list on their site isn't accurate. According to their list there is no distribution center in NC, however I normally have a 2-day turnaround time because it goes to Greensboro(45 minutes away)
