Is it me or does GH2 and GH3 sound like crap on 360 and Dolby Digital?

Since Rockband came out I have shelved GH2 and GH3. On my receiver, Denon 3805, RB sounds freaking sweet in DD. This weekend I tried playing GH2 and GH3 in DD surround and it sounded god awful. The center sounded muddled and basically no surround, bass or drums. I messed with my receivers setting but could not get any decent sound from GH2 and 3. GH3 did sound much better but nowhere near a good as RB. Is this common? Did they not do a good job in GH2 and 3 as far as digital encoding as they did with RB?

Correct. I know the publisher(or someone that worked on the game) said the the sound on GH2 was mastered like shit. I have my 360 setup on my stereo and I can't turn it up. Way too much bass, and shitty bass at that. GH3 is MUCH better, but still not high quality by any means. I haven't had RB hooked up to my stereo yet, but it wouldn't take much to sound better than GH 2 and 3.

i thought i was the only one who thought the sound quality was lacking on Guitar Hero 3.I have a pretty good setup and was very underwhelmed, especialy when sound is the main focus of these games.

To be fair in RB the music is only played in stereo, the only thing coming out of the rear speakers is the crowd and other sounds. I'm glad they do it this way too, the music is actually recorded in stereo anyway, they'd have to upmix it if they wanted it to be surround.

Not true. Play Cherub Rock in DD 5.1, the drums are kicking from the center channel as well as the LFE. They did a great job with the 5.1 in RB. I turn off the crowd and sound effects in the game and it is, for the most part, encoded in 5.1

It's not even that it's NOT mastered in 5.1 surround. It is mastered in stereo and STILL sounds like shit. That's my main gripe. At least if the stereo sounded good it wouldn't be as bad.
