Is it me or does D2 Act1 nightmare suck?

I got Diablo 2 a few weeks ago and finally beat Diablo on normal. I start playing nightmare act1 and it sucks. The guys are pretty strong and deal pretty much damage (which is expected) but they drop crap items. In ACT 4 normal, there was tons of wands and scepters that sold for a ton of money and I found other good stuff. Now there is crap. I still see clubs and stuff like that! Wtf!

Act III does indeed suck. I hate those damn Fetishes/Flayer/Soul Killers. If it wasn't for Nova/Blizzard, I would give up playing.

Yeah Act3 is going to suck so much. I hated it in Normal with those little bitch flayer blow dart guys. SO ANNOYING! Thanks for the links though this is my battlenet character so no cheating. My single-player character which I hardly play is still on Act3 Normal.

I played the cow level a little bit by myself and beat the cow king but he dropped a damn rare mask (and I already have a tight rare bone mask). There's a ton of cows! Nothing some blizzard, static field, and glacial spike can't handle.

Actually today, I finally found some decent stuff. Sigon shield (already have sigon belt and body armor) and some rare armor with def of 190.

If you bulked up enough in Act 4 normal, you should just wade thru act I and get right down to business in act II. There are much better gamble items, and a better chance of getting exceptional items.

I HATE act 3. My first quest done on act 3 was Mephisto AND he dropped the figurine from act 1. Interesting way to get that quest done. I wnet back just so I coudl try for the ring Ormus gives you but that was it.

Act III is by far the hardest for my Necro. On hell difficulty, I got killed so many times, I can't even count. But as far as bad stuff being dropped in nightmare, I have to disagree. You can acquire some exceptional items plus regular gems by that time.

Wait till act 2 as someone above has said. This is where I started to make tons of money. Hmmmm Ancient armor that sells from at least 18k. Hmmmmm. Its a great way to start gambling. I know I did it and gota lot of coold sutff.. I sitll do it not in act 4 hell. Well I only gamble on rings and amulets now a days but it works.

Oh yes and to answer to unasked questions. TO get a Stone of Jordan you MUST have in the game OR in your posession AND someone can not possess it, a Nagel ring and a Manald heal.

So to Reitereate you must have the 2 prior unique rings nagel ring and Manald heal to get the stone

To get the EYe of etlich the same thing as above must be done cept the unique amulet you need is called Nokozan Relic.

Not only was ActIII annoying as fsck with those "fetishes" and shamans and what not, but the graphics and overall theme for the levels sucked too. Act II was pretty awesome though.

The worst part of Act 3 was the damn confusing, big, and maze-like forest. That part was so bad its not even funny.

After that once you get into the city part it is acctually a really fun time. But the forest kills it. It would have been so much better if they made the whole thing like the city part.

I'm glad you caught on to the battlenet no cheating part. I forgot to mention that.

But, seriously though, the special stuff does start to get better towards the end of Act 1. I don't know if I could have made it with my Bowazon without her Amazon and rental chick.

BTW,
Even my Barb. had a (little) trouble in Act 1. It's not to cost effective supporting all that armor. Sometimes I'd get too overconfident and get into melee trouble.

Ok thanks for all the replies. I'm on quest 6 of it but I'm gonna level up some before going to Catacombs and I didn't even do quest 5 since my party did it for me.

piku: You're right, the city part is fun. The flayer jungle and all that is the worst.

eagle - hehe yeah i've done that tower one like twice in my entire time playing. I always skip it for some reason

Yup, Act III is a bitch. Those little shrimps always run away but they are like pirahanas because in big groups they can inflict some damage on you! Also the level design was really bad. It took forever for me to find that Arachnid Lair, and I kept confusing it with the Spider Cavern (or whatever the two are called) - I'm talking about the one where you get one of the body parts at.

this is what i did. since i hated those damn little flayers, i decided to level up in act2. i start in the far oasis, and work towards the viper temple. i levelled up really well. after that, i skipped most of act3, i just went on to kill meph. after act 3, open the floodgates, those 25k items are coming in...
