I see lots of posts on here blasting President Bush on his comments, his actions, and his oratory skills, but you know what, he appears to have some legitimate concern, compassion, and sincerity to him. I personally feel that he has an honest apathy twords the families and victims of the last couple days events.
Now these fscking senators and congressmen are a different story. In almost every interview I have heard with them, one message seems to be ringing louder than anything else "ME ME ME ME". I just can't help to feel like the only reason they are on the phone is to try and sell a bill or encourage a relief act that they keep enforcing that THEY themselves came up with trying to make them look like a personal hero.
That's just one example that I've been seeing. The other half of them seem to be reacting in such a childish fashion that the only reaction they have is "KILL EM ALL!" They seem to be craving for blood and seem to think that they know exactly who did it and want to push the little red button themselves.
Yes, I do realize that they are politicians, and yes I do realize that they are sort of humans, but come on. In a time like this, the ABSOLUTE LAST THING that I want to see is some prick of a politician trying to make themselves look like a freaking saint when all they are doing is pushing their own personal agendas. This isn't the time. Actually there should never be a time for it, but this especially is not it.
I wish we had more politicians and real leaders like the mayor of NY. Juliani (spelling?) was out directing traffic hours into the initial event on tuesday. We need leaders who aren't scared to get their suits dirty and blood on their hands. We need leaders who can appeal the feelings of those in need and according to the situation, not to act to help their own personal agenda.
Maybe I'm off based in my observations, and maybe I'm just seeing the good sides of certain figureheads, but I hope that I am halfway accurate. I ask you this - the next time an election comes around, don't look at that candidates platform and the party under it, don't look at their suit, and don't be swayed by the same promises that have been broken several elections before. Look at the person under all of those. A leader is born, not bought. The next time you go to puch that ballot remember that you are voting in office a person, not a specific party.
