Is it me or do more hard drives seem to bog the computer down?

I've just added another hard drive (total of 5, 4 on a highpoint IDE RAID controller, 1 on motherboard IDE) and it seems that the computer takes longer to boot and shut down... Is it just me?

You'll probably find that's Windows mounting all the drives- if you disconnect the drives, does it shutdown & startup quicker?

I've got 5 going, (2 in Raid-0) but, it doesn't seem to slow it down any, unless I change them ( swap one out.. )

It could also be that your PSU is having trouble handling all the drives

Of couse, it takes longer to startup because of the raid controller. My 3 drive (w/xp 2700) system is much snappier than my kids 1 drive (w/xp 2600) system.
