I was looking on amazon for my new lens to add to the collection and its all gone up.

Remember when the nifty 50 was only $80, now its 150. The EF 50 1.4 is 4xx. damn!

I dont know about nikon or sony or other brands since i dont have their cameras. What's going on.. I might have to go with Tamron or Sigma now.. (not that they are bad).

The Fed's been printing a lot of money so the USD is worth 10% less than a year ago relative to yen. Also earthquake has caused production stoppages in canon factories and shipping delays all contributing to increased prices.

Combination of strong Japanese Yen, weak US$, and earthquake limiting supply.
I remember when I got 24-70 L for $980 about 3 years ago. Now it's $1500.

Prices have been increasing for a while due to the weak dollar but the earthquake has really exacerbated the problem.
It's also difficult for some people to get their equipment repaired and it's likely we'll also see some delays in the introduction of new products.

damn... i thought it was mainly the earthquake's fault... just in December, the 100 f/2.8L was only 800 bucks... now it's flirting with 1100!
