Is it legeal for software to wipe out some important files if it detects it's a cracked version?

There's an add-on for Flight Simulator and if it detects you have a non-legit copy, it will nuke(note: delete necessary files) your Flight Simulator making it unplayable...bear in mind, if a legit person simply edited the config which over 95% of users do they can mistakenly delete something they're not supposed to. Is it legal? granted company is in Europe.
 
If it's deleting it's own files I don't see a problem. If it went around deleting all of your MP3s then there might be grounds for a case.
