To give an employee working part time only 2 days a week? My manager is such a ******, i'm only getting 10 hours a week :|
 
it pisses me off to high hell. i have ****** i have to pay for like cell phone bill, car insurance, etc. I WANT TO PUNCH HIM IN THE MOUTH. and no im not neffing, that was a last night one time only thing.

And if your job is that bad and you need a car to get there, think about a different job that gives more hours and doesn't require a car.

The majority of us, including the OP (at least according to their profile), have public transportation available. Is it glamorous? No. Does it get you from point A to point B without having to walk the entire distance? Yes.

OP: Like someone said: You don't NEED a cell phone or a car. Your finances have no place in his desire to run labor in a cost-effective manner. It should also be noted that you don't NEED to work at this job. If you have 10 hours a week, there are a number of things you can do.

1) Talk to your manager and ask why you aren't getting many hours.
1a) Could be because your knowledge of the job does not match with his need of labor
1b) Could be that you aren't a good worker. (Ask how you can improve?)
1c) Could be because the company is doing poorly and sacrifices must be made to increase profit
1d) Could be because you are a recent hire and you are on sort of a probationary period until you prove yourself.
2) Find a new job. If you are only working 10hrs a week, then you have plenty of time to go fill out applications and such.
3) Ask other employees if you can work their shifts. People often get a lazy bug and would like the day off. You can capitalize on this.
4) Do other jobs while you are off. Wash cars. Cut grass. Yes it sucks, but money is money.
5) Get rid of the cell phone. Teenagers don't need them. Every person on here that is in their mid twenties managed to go through the teen years without a cell phone. You aren't that important... you don't need to talk to people that much.

I'd completely disagree. I'd say that less than a majority have workable, usable, and afforable Public Transportation. We certainly don't where I live.

i'll be the first to say, ****** ALL YA'LL WHO ARE NEGATIVE. i am ****** 16 for christ's sake. i work at Bill Miller BBQ. Get over ya'lls self, i asked a quesiton, and all i get is ****** comments and people just flat out making fun of me. How mature of you "adults", great example. i really love it how no one can give a straight out answer without some smartass comment. I hope badgering a teenager makes you feel better about yourselves. and yes a cell phone is necessary, parents care and want to know where i am.

if your parents want to know where you are, make them pay for the cell phone. If they don't, say you can't afford it, and they will have to live with it. Thats what I did in HS....and guess who had their cell paid for 😛

read between the lines of the critisism that was offered. Basically you need to talk to the manager and ask for more hours. Ask why you were cut down, see what it is that can be changed. If there are no hours available, it's time to look for a new job.

Where i work, co-manager at a resturant, we sat down with this one girl, told her her preformance was lacking and needed to be imporoved, two days later when we were busy she was just sitting around talking.....the following schedule(2 weeks) she had NO hours......she came to us in tears explaining she has a child, bills, etc.......well then woman, get your sh*t together....

i made it through 20 years of my life without a cell-phone, and my mom always knew where i was. I carried coins for the phone all the time. And you act shocked that you got sarcasm and smart-a*s remarks around here.....it's ATOT, get used to it.

Uhh... I already gave you a straight answer with no smartass comments. If you take it that way, it's your fault for not being able to cope with honesty. I've done the food service thing. I know it sucks, but coming on to an internet forum and complaining about bills you have as a teenager to a bunch of people that have house payments, insurance payments, all sorts of payments for things is like telling a homeless person you have a rough life.

You apparently still have yet to learn that nobody in the working world is there to be your friend, and nothing is ever owed to you.

I don't believe for a second that a cell phone is a necessity, but if it is, why don't you get a better plan? Why don't you get some $10/mo pre-paid deal? I have a sneaking suspicion the answer is because even though you make the claim/excuse that your parents "force" you to have it, you still talk and send messages on it to all of your friends.

You'd be wise to eliminate the costs from your life. You're going to have to do it sometime before you can be a sucess.

You'd also be wise to you respect the advice and opinions of people older than you, even though it might seem a bit harsh at times.
