Just a hypothetical here, in case it comes up.

Is it ok to use your current employer/boss as a reference for another job while your still working at the current job?

Yes, but only 1 or 2 employees at most. (I was told this by a professional resume writer)

Yes. As long as your current employer is not a pig or shellfish.

Only if you don't let your current employer know before you get an offer. You should tell the people you are interviewing with that you can use your current employer as a reference AFTER an offer is given.

You should be in the habit of knowing what kind of references your former (or current) employers will give.

It's common sense that if you're boss doesn't know you're looking for another job and has no idea you are planning on quitting, you shouldn't put him down as a reference.
