Is it just me or is poker become one of the US's favorite passtimes lately?

Just a year ago i hardly ever heard about poker nights or really watched it on TV, but now it's on TV all the time and everyone I know is talking about having poker nights, buying expensive clay chips, and gambling their money away(some winning to of course)

So the real question is the first line? Is it just me or has poker suddenly become a huge thing in the US.

Interest in the game is very high right now.

I think a big part of it is the fact that the ratings for ESPN's World Series of Poker were up HUGE this year. For the first time, people could see what the player's hold cards were. It seemed to generate a LOT of interest and a lot more people tuned in.

Some of the networks (Trio, Fox Sports) noticed the interest and started broadcasting shows dedicated to the game.
