"Is it just me?" type question

Hi All,
I have a lower end Sony camera (dsc700 iirc) which is good enough for me in most cases.
Outdoors, though, I have difficulty viewing the LCD in order to frame my shots.
Depending on the sun, quite often I can't see anything at all on the screen.
Is there a setting I can adjust or does anyone have some advice?
(note: the images are fine, just the aiming is somewhat problematic)
Thanks!!

I don't know that there's much you can do. It's a common problem, which is why some P&S cameras have both viewfinders and preview LCDs. If you can't improve it by either shading it with your hand, or increasing the brightness/contrast, then I think you probably just can't shoot in those conditions with that camera.

yes, it does, in regard to image quality, but nothing about viewing the LCD

Well, if it's a common problem, at least I know I'm not doing anything incorrectly.

Thank you!

Yeah, it's a common problem. The best you can do is try and shade it. The reason is because the outside brightness is just overpowering the brightness of the screen, making it appear too dark.
