"You will definitely pay more for better LCD display brands like Sharp, Toshiba, JVC, or Sony than you will for cheap Chinese or Korean variety knock-offs, but you'll get a backlighting bulb of higher quality and, in the end, a TV whose colors will stay truer longer."

Korean variety? I thought LG was considered name brand, and they're korean... :frown:

They're all based in either: Japan (Sharp/NEC), South Korea (Samsung/LG, best brands of LCD), Taiwan (Chi Mei), and some in China (AU Optronics). All the color filter and backlight companies are based in Taiwan. Sharp, JVC, and Toshiba all use electronics from one of these companies, so that must mean they have cheap components!
