I listened to him every day on the afternoon drive home from college back in the early 90's. Mostly because I heard someone refer to him as a "shock jock" like Morton Downey Jr (whom at that point I only saw a couple of times on late night TV.) and I was intrigued. For a couple of years I played into it and considered myself a conservative. After 2-3 years of the same tired routine I got very bored and it began to feel like an effort to listen to his BS for extended periods of time. Not to mention the horribly annoying and unending advertisements they played (and still do) on AM radio. I eventually tuned out completely by the time I finished university and haven't gone back since.

Yeah, as others have said, there's nothing genuine about him. It's all an act.

It was an act, long time ago. These days, I'm not sure. Rush has no problem identifying problems, and as much as people dislike him, most of what he identifies is legitimate. What he can't ever seem to do is offer solutions to problems.

Back in the 90s he used to correct people and remind them that radio shows, including his, are entertainment.

What he does is take gray areas and makes a black or white statement about them, which polarizes people. That's what all political shock jocks do. He's nothing more than than a radio version of Bill O'Reilly.

BTW- does anyone remember Rush's TV show in the mid-90's? It was like he formed the basis for Fox News!
