Is it just me or is Drakanseng just boring?

I've put a few hours into the game and it just seems like a really cookie-cutter generic bland type of game that has nothing going for it. The graphics are nice but...meh. Combat is boring and there seems to be a lot of "fetch three berries from Bush #253" and walk 10 minutes back to me type of quests. Plus the camera sucks - is there a first person option?

Does it get better?

The story get's better after you get out of the first area.

I think the fun in drakensang is probably in the exploring.

All in all it is pretty genericy, but so were NWN and BG really. It's definately not on the same epic scale as those games.

Herecy! 😛 Unless you mean BG1, then I can somewhat support this claim. However BG2? Every little quest there was unique and was a small story with nothing remotely close to being generic. The whole game was and still is one epic adventure.

As for the question at hand, no idea 😛 Didni't play Drakensang.

But I shall defend BG2 with my life!
😀 😛

Hmm...well, maybe I was a bit quick to judge. It's become a bit more interesting. The game reminds me of Baldur's Gate (the original, not part 2) a lot.

I just feel it could have been done better. Ah well.

Worst.....ending......ever. When will designers learn to do a god damn proper ending. A 10 second cut scene....wtf?!

Played the demo. I absolutely hated the camera control. I have been thinking of getting the game though. I really want to play an RPG that doesnt involve zombie killing.
Does anyone know how this game compares to Sacred 2??

The camera is ok once you learn how to use it. If you hold down the right mouse button and use the wsad keys to move your guys, it goes fine. Don't do point and click.

What character type did you play for the main character?

I'm used to D&D character creation but after installing last night I was starting at the character creation screen with no idea which types were playable in this universe for n00bs.

Expert mode is also confusing -- I downloaded the GameFaqs walkthrough for tips on creation, and the author recommended a Ranger using a 2-handed sword. But on the expert screen, rangers can't put any points into 2-handed, just daggers through sabers.

Yeah, when it's a new system I don't know well, I always play a warrior. So that's what I played 😛

For most of the game, I had myself as a warrior, a second tank, a battlemage, and a buffer/summoner who was damn useful with the bow as well. No reason to get a thief as you can just split those talents among your party imo.

Rangers can't start with 2-handed, but they can learn it later from a trainer.
